In 1991, while working for a commercial construction information company, Dave and Ann Taylor moved to Orlando. In early 1992, they began receiving requests for information on building permits. With no service available, the Taylors used their years of experience in the industry to compile a residential permit report for the Orlando area. In May of 1992, Home Builders Weekly was born.

Soon thereafter, the report was enhanced by adding commercial construction permits; swimming pool permits were added as well.

By the end of 1992, several more counties were added to the Central Florida coverage.Over time, Home Builders Weekly grew to cover most of Florida along with the metro areas of Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Austin. More metro areas will be added in the near future.

In 2000, Home Builders Weekly was incorporated as HBW Inc. Headquartered in DeBary, Florida, with a full time editorial - office staff of 10 and over 40 reporters spread throughout the territories, permit data is gathered, edited and published each and every week.

  • Jim Votino FL/GA/AL Account Manager

    Jim started with HBW in 1996 to manage sales and helped expand the Florida market coverage to the 49 total counties offered today. He also played a strategic role in expanding coverage to include Texas and Atlanta. HBW Inc considers Jim a master of market trends and statistics. On a weekly basis, he monitors all of the counties in Florida, Georgia and Alabama looking for highs and lows in the market. If you're looking to expand to another area he can, without a doubt, direct you to hot areas. If your sales are greater from one rep to another, his market analysis may explain why, thus giving you tools for sales justification. His purpose is to provide clients with expert market analysis while partnering to expand their business and growth portfolios.

  • Marcia Crispell FL/GA/AL Account Manager

    Marcia began her career with HBW in 2000, with the desire to offset college expenses for her daughter. Over the years she's worked in all of the HBW markets, helping to open the Texas area. She knows the market place and the best applications for HBW's various reports for the success of her clients. Her clients enjoy regular follow up calls, as she monitors their success with the reports. Most of her customer relationships have been maintained since 1999-2001. Her desire is to provide excellent customer service combined with expert market knowledge while helping her clients grow and expand.
